# Sri Kandaswamy Kovil
> The Sri Kandaswamy Temple, established in 1902 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, originated from a community initiative in 1890 to create a place for Saiva Siddhantha practices. The temple, modelled after the Nallur Kanthaswamy Temple in Sri Lanka, has been a significant religious and cultural centre for over a century. It has undergone multiple reconstructions and expansions, including the addition of the Kalamandapam event hall. The temple continues to serve its devotees, observing daily poojas, festivals, and major ceremonies like the Maha Kumba Abishegam. It is administered by the Malaysian Ceylon Saivites Association, upholding its rich heritage and traditions.
